King Charles Honors Queen Elizabeth as Speech Fuels Speculation About Trump
King Charles has remembered his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on what would have marked her 100th birthday. During the emotional tribute, the King also spoke about the difficult challenges facing the world, prompting some observers to wonder whether his comments carried an indirect message aimed at US President Donald Trump.
The remarks come only weeks before Charles and Queen Camilla are due to visit the United States for a state occasion and meet with Trump at the White House.
King Charles Set to Meet Donald Trump at the White House
The upcoming royal trip has attracted considerable attention. Buckingham Palace has confirmed that King Charles and Queen Camilla will travel to the United States as part of events connected with the country’s 250th anniversary celebrations.
Trump previously hosted the British royals during their visit the previous year, when he and First Lady Melania Trump met with King Charles and other members of the Royal Family. Their encounter was described as cordial, and the King subsequently accepted Trump’s invitation to return to the White House.
Trump later announced that the royal couple’s visit would take place from April 27 through April 30, with an official White House banquet planned for April 28.
